The national energy company “Energoatom” found itself in an extremely difficult financial situation due to a significant discrepancy between the established tariff for electricity and its market value, which has increased significantly over the past year.
About this reported Yuriy Boyko, adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine on energy issues:
“At the beginning of the year, due to a significant difference between the previous tariff and the market price, which was constantly increasing for objective reasons, Energoatom was unable to fulfill its financial obligations. As a result, the company owed more than UAH 20 billion to suppliers“.
It is noted that the increase in the electricity tariff is a necessary step to ensure the financial stability of Energoatom and its ability to make current payments. According to Boyko, the new tariff is calculated in such a way as to minimize the difference between the tariff and the market price.
