Trump announced the need to hold elections in Ukraine due to Zelensky’s low rating

US President Donald Trump statedthat Ukraine needs to hold elections because “the approval rating of the current president, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, has fallen to 4%.”

According to Trump, the demand to hold elections does not come from Russia, but is the result of an “objective situation”, since voting has not been held for a long time.

“In this situation, when the martial law continues in Ukraine all the time and the leader of this country’s approval rating has already fallen to 4%. I think that if we sit down at the table, the Ukrainian people will already decide that there have been no elections for a long time. It is not Russia telling Ukraine that elections are needed, this is an objective situation.”

At the same time, Trump did not specify which sociological data he relies on.

It will be recalled that the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, based on survey data as of December 2024, concluded that confidence in Zelensky is 52%.
