Zelensky canceled visits to Spain and Portugal: details
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, canceled the visits to Spain and Portugal, which were supposed to take place at the end of this week.
According to CNN Portugal, the reason for canceling the trips was the difficult situation at the front.
“Without giving details, the entourage of the head of the Ukrainian state probably understood that the difficult situation in several areas of the front, in particular, in Kharkiv, is not conducive to going abroad now“, the publication writes.
Zelensky was supposed to visit Spain on May 17. A meeting of the President of Ukraine with King Philip VI of Spain was planned in Madrid. Zelensky was also expected to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to sign a bilateral security agreement.
Zelenskyi was supposed to visit Spain for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Zelenskyi has also not visited Portugal since February 2022. In Lisbon, according to SIC Notícias, Zelensky was also supposed to sign a bilateral agreement on security guarantees.
The President’s Office has not yet commented on the cancellation of foreign visits.
