Trump calls for military jets and security over Iran threat

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has asked for extra security in the final weeks of the campaign, including military jets, ballistic glass at rallies and increased security. About this informs The Washington Post.

According to the publication, in the e-mails that got to the media, there are requests for restrictions on flights over Trump’s residences and places of his rallies, as well as a requirement to install ballistic glass in seven states where the campaign is ongoing. In addition, Trump requested military vehicles for his movements.

As The Washington Post points out, such requests are unprecedented – no candidate in US history has been transported by military aircraft during the election campaign. However, the measures were requested after Trump advisers received information from the government about possible plans by Iran to organize a plot to kill Trump.

The sources also say that Trump’s advisers are particularly concerned about the threat of drone and missile strikes.

Trump’s campaign officials say he was forced to cancel one of his public events because of “understaffing” at the Secret Service, replacing the large speech with a smaller meeting with reporters.

Danielle Alvarez, Trump’s press secretary, declined to comment on the situation, while the US Secret Service confirmed that Trump was receiving “the highest level of protection.” They noted that the former president regularly uses the help of the Ministry of Defense, including the disposal of explosives, the work of canine units and the provision of air transportation.
