Trump fires husband Kamala Harris, who worked at a Holocaust museum

US President Donald Trump has begun firing officials appointed by his predecessor, Joe Biden. Among those fired was Douglas Emgoff, the husband of former vice president and presidential candidate Kamala Harris, who worked at the Holocaust museum. About this informs New York Times.
Emhoff, who is Jewish and outspoken against rising anti-Semitism in the United States, served on the board of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. He was appointed in January 2025 and was fired just a few months after taking office, although the normal term of service on this council is five years.
“I was informed today of my removal from the US Holocaust Memorial Council. Holocaust remembrance and education should never be politicized. Turning one of the most horrific atrocities in history into a question that kills a wedge is dangerous — and it dishonors the memory of the 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis, which this museum was created to preserve.” – said Emghoff, commenting on his dismissal.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said Donald Trump is “looking forward” to new appointments to the council. According to her, future members will not only continue to honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, but will also be strong supporters of Israel.
In addition to Emghoff, Trump fired several other officials, including Joe Biden’s first chief of staff Ron Klein, former Labor Secretary and adviser Tom Perez, Barack Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice, and Anthony Bernal, former first lady Jill Biden’s senior adviser.
