Trump is ready to double sanctions against Russia to end the war in Ukraine: Kellogg

US President Donald Trump is ready to double the sanctions against Russia to end the war in Ukraine. This was stated by his special representative for Ukraine and the Russian Federation Keith Kellogg, informs New York Post.

Kellogg believes that the current level of economic pressure on Russia can only be rated as a three on a ten-point scale. He noted that the US sanctions aimed at the profitable energy sector of the Russian Federation have already nominally doubled, but they can be strengthened even more.

“Sanctions can really be strengthened – especially the latest sanctions (relating to oil production and export)“, Kellogg emphasized.

Trump gathered his advisers and cabinet members last week in the Oval Office, including Vice President J.D. Vance and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, he said. The main topic of discussion was the use of all available tools of US national power to end the war in Ukraine.

According to Kellogg, Ukraine needs to continue military pressure on Russia, but he criticized the strategy of Joe Biden’s administration, which promised to provide assistance “as much as necessary.” Kellogg noted that Russia is ready for a protracted war of attrition, which history has repeatedly confirmed. In his opinion, pressure on Russia should be not only military, but also economic and diplomatic.
