Searches and detentions in the ranks of the opposition are taking place in Georgia

In Georgia, the offices of at least several opposition parties were searched, after which two people were detained. About this informs “Exo Caucasus”.

Searches are taking place in the offices of Georgian opposition parties. In particular, law enforcement officers entered the offices of “Unity – National Movement” and “Coalition for Change”.

Nick Gwaramiya, the founder of the Mtavari television company, the leader of the Ahali party and the Coalition for Change, is among those detained. He was detained near the office of the coalition parties “Girchi-bolshe svoboda” and “Droa”, where the police had previously conducted a search. “Coalition for Change” activist Gelu Khasai was also detained.

In addition, law enforcement officers visited the house of the administrator of the Facebook platform “Daitove” Ilya Glonti. This platform is used to coordinate protests and share information about rallies.

Protests in Georgia have been going on for almost a week after the Prime Minister’s statement that until 2029 the issue of starting negotiations on joining the EU will be “frozen”. Security forces regularly resort to harsh methods when dispersing demonstrators.
