Trump made racist remarks about Kamala Harris and called himself “the best president for black people”

The former president accused the current vice president of manipulating racial identity to gain support from black voters.

On July 31, during a meeting of the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago, the candidate for the presidency of the United States, Donald Trump, said that his alleged rival, Kamala Harris, recently started pretending to be black in order to win the support of African Americans. He noted that she had previously identified herself as Indian, informs Ukrinform.

“I didn’t know she was black until she accidentally became one… Now she wants to be known as black. She was always Indian… And then she turned around and became a black person.”, – said Trump. (Harris’ father is a black Jamaican, his mother is from India).

Trump also misspelled the name Harris several times, pronouncing it with an accent on the second syllable, when the correct accent should be on the first, Kámala.

Speaking about the need to fight illegal immigration, Trump said that illegal immigrants are taking jobs that could belong to black Americans.

“Millions of people are coming into our country and taking black jobs, Hispanic jobs and, frankly, union jobs. They’re taking your jobs.”, – he declared.

At the event, Trump entered into a controversy with the presenters – female journalists of Fox News, ABC and Semafor. He accused one of them of asking a “horrible,” “rude” and “disgraceful” question when she asked what he had done for black Americans.

“I love the black people… I was the best president for the black people since Abraham Lincoln”, Trump said.

Commenting on his age, Trump noted: “I know many people in their 80s and 90s who are in great shape.”

He also stated that he was willing to take a cognitive test, implying that Harris might fail it.

Trump’s appearance at the meeting caused controversy within the association. Renowned journalist and Washington Post editor Karen Attia resigned as a board member and co-chair of the association in protest against giving Trump a platform to speak.

Kamala Harris is expected to meet with reporters from the National Association of Black Journalists virtually in September.
