Trump’s statements about allocating $350 billion to Ukraine and Pentagon data do not coincide

According to President Donald Trump, $350 billion has been spent to support Ukraine, but that figure is far higher than the amount recorded by the Defense Department and an interagency watchdog group that tracks U.S. aid to Ukraine.
“Voice of America” publication turned to the White House with a request to provide explanations and documents confirming the mathematical inconsistency in the figures declared by President Trump. According to the interagency oversight group, which is responsible for reporting to Congress, since the Russian invasion in February 2022, the US Congress has allocated about $183 billion to Ukraine. Of these, the Pentagon confirmed to Voice of America that the US has sent $65.9 billion in military aid to Ukraine, and another $3.9 billion, which Congress authorized in the form of military aid to Kyiv, remains unspent.
At the same time, about 58 billion dollars out of 183 billion dollars of total aid to Ukraine was spent in the USA. These funds were directed to the development of the American defense industry – they were either used to replace old weapons transferred to Ukraine with new ones of American production, or were invested directly in the industry.
“Voice of America” also asked the White House to comment on Donald Trump’s statements regarding the “mathematical inconsistency” of his statements regarding aid spending to Ukraine.
In response, the White House quoted Trump, who wrote on his Truth Social social network:
“The moderately successful comedian Volodymyr Zelenskyy has convinced the United States of America to spend $350 billion on a war that is unwinnable, that should never have started, but a war that he, without the US and Trump, will never be able to settle.”
