Trump urged not to send weapons to a “dead end”: what will happen to American aid to Ukraine in the event of his presidency?

Future military aid to Ukraine should depend on participation in peace talks with Russia, Donald Trump believes. In May, his team published a book outlining Trump’s defense strategy should he win the US presidential election. Among his other national security ideas is a ban on Chinese citizens buying real estate within 50 miles of US government buildings.
While the book lacks specifics, it offers some pointers on how the incoming Trump administration might approach foreign policy issues such as Russia’s war against Ukraine. Donald Trump stated that if elected, he would resolve the conflict before Inauguration Day in January 2025. However, the candidate for the presidential seat from the Republicans did not explain how exactly he plans to do it.
The war section of the book is mostly about how the conflict unfolded, not how to end it. However, the authors believe that future military aid to Ukraine should depend on the state’s participation in peace negotiations with Russia.
Trump predicts that the Ukrainian army will probably lose ground over time, and advises “not to send weapons into a dead end” because “Ukraine will eventually have a hard time winning.” The presidential candidate offers the following option: the US will continue to arm Ukraine after the signing of the peace agreement. Donald Trump believes that in this case American support will be a deterrent for Russia.
On the other hand, the authors of the strategy believe that Ukraine should not refuse to return all captured territories. However, such a return, according to the Trump team, can only be achieved through diplomatic negotiations.
