UAH 7,000 per nanny: who can receive compensation for child care expenses

A municipal nanny is a state service that allows parents of preschool children to receive funds to pay for childcare services. Recently, the government expanded the list of families entitled to compensation for a nanny. The changes concern internally displaced persons and families living in areas where, due to security or other factors, it is impossible to ensure the operation of kindergartens.
The resolution provides for the expansion of the category of children for whom it is possible to order a state service:
- children of internally displaced persons under the age of 3;
- children under 6 years of age who need additional care (previously, the category of children with serious illnesses only under 3 years of age was included);
- children under 6 years old (previously only under 3 years old), whose one parent is a disabled person of group I or II;
- children under 6 years of age who live in the territories of administrative-territorial units where it is impossible to ensure the functioning of preschool education institutions (territories of Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, etc.).
The resolution will be in effect during martial law and for three months after. The average amount of compensation for paying a nanny is currently 7,100 hryvnias per month.
“An important change is precisely the fact that the right to the “municipal babysitter” service is granted to internally displaced persons and persons who live with their children in territories where it is impossible to ensure the functioning of preschool education institutions. In this way, obstacles to ensuring the right of parents to employment and economic independence, and children – to receive proper care and development”. – noted in the Ministry of Social Policy.
