Ukraine and Europe are negotiating to equip strategic reserve brigades

Rustem Umyerov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine reported, that Ukraine has started negotiations with European countries regarding the training and equipping of the strategic reserve brigades. This happened during his meeting with the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius.

“Special attention was paid to the preparation of the strategic reserve brigades. We are already negotiating with a number of European countries on the equipment and training of our units. We expect the coordinating role of the EU in accelerating these agreements.”, the minister noted.

He emphasized that Ukraine’s goal is to provide the military with everything necessary to bring about a just peace.

The state plans to make cooperation with partners even more effective in 2025. For this purpose, an analysis of the support received in previous years has been started, and new directions of work have been determined. Among them are the use of revenues from frozen Russian assets, the expansion of the EUMAM training mission to train the Ukrainian military, as well as investments in the defense sector to strengthen domestic production.

According to Umyerov, these measures should help Ukraine strengthen its defense capabilities and ensure sustainable development in cooperation with international partners.
