Ukraine and Russia held another exchange as part of the second stage of the return of seriously wounded soldiers

On June 12, Ukraine and the Russian Federation carried out another stage of the exchange of prisoners of war within the framework of the agreements reached in Istanbul during the second round of negotiations. Seriously wounded and seriously ill Ukrainian military men returned home. About this reported President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

“Today, soldiers of our army, national guardsmen, border guards are at home. Everyone needs treatment, and they will definitely be provided with the necessary help. This is already the second stage of the return of seriously wounded and seriously ill soldiers. We continue to work to return everyone from Russian captivity. We thank everyone who helps make these exchanges possible. May everyone be at home, in Ukraine.” – noted Zelensky.

In the Coordination Headquarters clarified, that the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular the Airborne Assault Forces, the Naval Forces, the Air Force, the Territorial Defense Forces, the Security and Special Operations Forces, as well as the State Border Service and the National Guard of Ukraine, have returned to Ukraine.

“Among those released today are the defenders of Mariupol, who were in captivity for more than three years. All the released defenders are men, representatives of the ranks and non-commissioned officers. Some of the Ukrainian soldiers released today were considered missing. In general, Ukrainians who fought in the Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Luhansk directions are returning home.” – it is stated in the message of the headquarters.

Today’s exchange is part of a large-scale exchange covering the categories of servicemen under the age of 25, as well as seriously wounded and seriously ill.
