Ukraine appealed to Interpol to detain People’s Deputy Dmytrouk

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has appealed to several countries with a request for the detention and temporary arrest of fugitive MP Artem Dmytrouk, who is suspected of attacking a soldier and a law enforcement officer. A petition has also been submitted to Interpol for the publication of a “red alert”, which will allow law enforcement agencies of various countries to search for and detain Dmytrouk.

For data of the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Ukraine acts within the framework of international agreements on the extradition of criminals, submitting requests to several states with a request to detain Dmytrouk and keep him in custody until the extradition procedure is completed. In addition, as part of this procedure, the General Secretariat of Interpol should publish a “red alert” that signals the need for Dmytrouk’s immediate arrest to law enforcement agencies around the world.

An Interpol “red alert” is an important step in the process of detaining a suspect outside the country. This is the mechanism used to organize an international search for persons who are internationally wanted for extradition or transfer.

We will remind that on August 29, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv decided to arrest Dmytrouk. After that, he was declared an international wanted man.
