Ukraine appealed to Romania with a note regarding the opening of new checkpoints

Ukraine sent a note to Romania regarding the opening of five new checkpoints. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.

During the meeting of the Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development, Serhiy Derkach, with the Romanian delegation, led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, Ionel Skristianu, agreements were reached on the start of the pilot project of the joint checkpoint. The parties also agreed to start preparing a plan for launching checkpoints for cars and pedestrians.

During the negotiations, it was agreed to organize the movement of large buses through the checkpoint “Dyakivtsi” after the completion of its reconstruction. As part of the update, a separate lane for bus traffic is planned.

“The priority is the opening of the new point “Bila Tserkva – Sigetu Marmaciei”, where the Romanian side has already built a bridge and completed more than 65% of the works, as well as the launch of passenger buses through “Dyakivtsi – Rakovec”. All this is within the framework of the Border Infrastructure Development Strategy until 2030.” Derkach noted.

Both countries are waiting for the decision of the competition committee of the EU program “Connecting Europe Mechanism” (CEF), where a joint application was submitted for the development of the Dyakovo – Halmeu checkpoint. The importance of launching an additional ferry service at the “Orlivka – Isakcha” checkpoint is emphasized separately.
