Ukraine condemns DPRK’s intercontinental missile launch and calls on partners to act urgently

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has strongly condemned North Korea’s new intercontinental ballistic missile launch on 31 October. This is stated in the commentary of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
‘This is another irresponsible provocation that undermines peace and stability both on the Korean peninsula and in the world as a whole,’ the ministry said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the DPRK, which supplies Russia with artillery ammunition, ballistic missiles and even sends military units to participate in the war against Ukraine, deliberately continues to destabilise the situation.
The launch of the missile, which reached the highest altitude compared to previous tests, indicates significant progress in North Korea’s missile programme. This, as well as the strengthening of military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK, is of particular concern, which, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requires decisive action from the international community.
The Ministry called on international partners to take immediate measures to confront the regimes in Russia and North Korea. In particular, it was proposed to increase sanctions pressure on Moscow and Pyongyang and to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities as part of the Victory Plan presented by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As a reminder, on 31 October, North Korea announced the successful test of a new solid-fuel intercontinental missile, the Hwasong-19, capable of delivering a nuclear payload to the United States.
