Ukraine has joined the development of NATO’s Scientific and Technical Strategy

Representatives of the system of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine are participating for the first time in the creation of a new project of NATO’s Scientific and Technical Strategy. This became possible thanks to the privileged member status that Ukraine has in the NATO Science and Technology Organization (STO). About this informs press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The Science and Technology Strategy is a key document that defines the tasks and goals of the Alliance in the field of science and technology, the mechanisms for their implementation, as well as the policy that the NATO Science and Technology Council will implement over the next six years. Ukrainian specialists participate in the work on this document in close cooperation with STO representatives.

“The involvement of our specialists proves the trust and interest of partners in closer cooperation with scientists of the Ministry of Defense system in the field of defense scientific research and development. Consolidation of efforts and proper coordination will help to achieve progress in the implementation of NATO’s Science and Technology Strategy.” – noted the director of the Department of Military Education and Science, Volodymyr Mirnenko.

He emphasized that the creation of a common scientific base of knowledge and conducting scientific diplomacy activities will contribute to European integration and general interoperability with NATO. In addition, it will make it possible to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities thanks to joint scientific achievements and technological development.

STO is a subsidiary body of NATO responsible for meeting the scientific and technical needs of the Alliance and partner countries through the creation and dissemination of advanced knowledge, innovation and technological developments.
