Ukraine is increasing the volume of grain exports

The 2023-2024 marketing year will end at the end of June. During the 11 months of this marketing year, Ukraine exported 46.96 million tons of grain and leguminous crops. This is 3% more than what was sold in the same period last year (+1.3 million tons). Such data is published by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy with reference to the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

More wheat and less corn

The increase in the total volume of exports of agricultural products was mainly due to the increase in sales of wheat. In 11 months, Ukraine shipped 17.4 million tons of this type of grain abroad. This is 1.9 million tons, or 12% more than in the previous marketing year.

On the other hand, the volume of foreign sales of corn decreased by 2%, or by 0.5 million tons. In the 2023-2024 marketing year, 26.6 million tons of this product were shipped.

Despite the decrease in shipments, corn remains the most popular export product among Ukrainian farmers.

As for the sales statistics of other grain crops, 2.4 million tons of barley were exported (-10%), and ten times less rye than in the previous marketing year – only 1.6 thousand tons.

What about the seed?

Farmers have already sown about 98% of the planned areas, or more than 12.4 million hectares of agricultural land. Representatives of the agrarian sector attracted 45.6 billion hryvnias of credit funds to carry out spring field work. In particular, 19.3 billion hryvnias were allocated within the framework of the “5-7-9%” state program. About 4,200 Ukrainian farms received preferential loans for sowing from the state.
