Ukraine seeks an end to the war, so it is ready to agree to a ceasefire even without security guarantees. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, informs ABC News.
“We are ready for a meeting, for everything that America offers. We support everything that President Trump is saying now, because we believe that he can put pressure on the Russians. We are completely frank. Do we like today just a cease-fire without security guarantees? No, not really. But do we support it? Yes, we do. We were ready for a cease-fire, permanent and long-lasting.”, – explained Zelensky.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian side is really interested in ending the war, while the opposite side is not.
“If the parties don’t want it, then we have to wait a little bit. This is not true. Our side wants it. We did not want the start of a war, we were not going to surrender to Putin. We are not ready for ultimatums and we want the end of the war. We are ready for a specific ceasefire offered by the American side, which we saw as the guarantor of the ceasefire control and as a mediator.” – noted Zelensky.
The President emphasized the importance of the participation of third parties in achieving peace in Ukraine.
“Historically, if you read the books, most wars ended when the parties did not even begin to trust each other. Mediators, circumstances, common sense of third countries, the majority of the world, the strong of this world helped. Everyone understood that a war is not just about starting and ending. It does not just end like that. And it has an impact on many different countries and directions. On the economy, energy, security, food security of other countries.
Therefore, the world should be interested in ending the war. And no matter what, if it is not a capitulation, which was in fascist Germany during the Second World War, then most wars ended with some kind of agreements. – concluded Zelensky.
