Belgium will allocate 1.7 billion euros of frozen assets of the Russian Federation to help Ukraine

Belgium will send 1.7 billion euros of tax revenues from frozen Russian assets to Euroclear to support Ukraine. About this informs GARDEN.
Frozen Russian assets stored in the largest Belgian securities depository “Euroclear” brought the country 1.7 billion euros in taxes, which the government decided to direct to help Ukraine.
In total, approximately 183 billion euros belonging to Russian companies and the government of the Russian Federation are blocked in Euroclear. Interest and dividends from these funds are accumulated in special accounts and reinvested in the European Aid Fund for Ukraine. In 2024, the fund received 3.55 billion euros: 1.55 billion was paid in July, and another 2 billion will come in February.
The Belgian authorities also tax the income derived from these assets. According to the results of last year, the amount of tax revenues amounted to 1.7 billion euros, and the government confirmed that these funds will be used to support Ukraine.
