Ukraine is ready to completely abolish duties on imports from the United States: Ministry of Economy

The authorities of Ukraine are considering the possibility of completely abolishing customs duties on goods supplied from the USA. This approach can contribute to the reduction or cancellation of tariffs on Ukrainian products from the United States. About this stated Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka.
According to him, Ukraine imports three to four billion dollars worth of goods from the US, and the current tariffs on these products are either very low or absent at all.
“Therefore, we are ready to zero out tariffs on American products. I think we will talk about it with the US administration at the first and best opportunity: according to their calculator and approach, this should be the case.” – explained Duck.
He reminded that the presidential decree of Donald Trump on the introduction of tariffs provides for the possibility of their further increase if another country takes measures in response.
“I’m not sure we need to do that either. We all know how delicate our dialogue with the US is on other tracks. Our interest is to cancel tariffs, not to do some kind of escalation.”, – added the deputy minister.
We will remind that on April 2, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of mutual tariffs for countries around the world, announcing the beginning of a new “trade war”. The corresponding decree has already been signed, and the duties began to operate on April 9. A customs duty of 10% is provided for Ukraine. The Ministry of Economy stated that these changes will not have a significant impact on product prices or the exchange rate.
