Ukraine offers first mining projects to the US

Ukraine presented to the United States the first initiatives in the field of extraction of strategically important minerals — graphite, lithium, and titanium — within the framework of the Ukraine-USA Reconstruction Investment Fund. About this reported First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyridenko after a meeting with the US Minister of Finance Scott Bessant.

“We move from vision to action”Svyridenko noted, stressing that the parties also discussed investor protection mechanisms.

The Minister of Economy reported that the development of specific projects is currently underway, and the first meeting of the Fund Council is scheduled for the end of July. It should initiate the operational phase of implementation — in particular, it provides for the approval of procedures, the formation of committees, and the definition of principles for the selection of initiatives.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine is considering expanding the mandate of the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund to include projects in the defense industry. Currently, the main focus of the fund is on initiatives in the sectors of critical raw materials, oil and gas.

However, during a meeting with representatives of the International Development Finance Corporation of the USA, the Ukrainian delegation proposed to extend the fund’s activities to the defense-industrial sector. According to Svyridenko, the American side has shown openness to this proposal.
