Ukraine seeks to confiscate not only profits but also frozen assets of the Russian Federation: Markarova

Ukraine is actively working to confiscate the entire amount of frozen Russian assets, and not limit itself to profits from them. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Oksana Markarova comments for Ukrinform.
“These (frozen – ed.) funds – which in total amount to about $300 billion – in our opinion, should all be confiscated and transferred to Ukraine“, Markarova stressed.
She explained that work in this direction is ongoing, and the US already supports full confiscation. Congress passed the REPO Act, which gives the administration the necessary authority to do so. However, the G7 countries have agreed to coordinate the next steps, and to achieve full confiscation of the entire amount, it is necessary to obtain the agreement of all partners.
While the negotiations on the full confiscation are ongoing, the American side offered to use the profits from the frozen assets already now to support Ukraine. In June, the leaders of the “Group of Seven” countries decided to provide Ukraine with a long-term loan of 50 billion dollars, which will be repaid at the expense of future income from these assets.
It will be recalled that on October 25, the G7 leaders published a joint statement in which they confirmed the agreement on the details of providing Ukraine with a $50 billion loan at the expense of Russian assets.
