Ukraine seeks to exclude Russia from all international human rights institutions: Lubinets

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reportedthat Ukraine is working to exclude Russia from all international human rights institutions.
The Ombudsman’s office actively cooperates with international partners, having held more than 400 meetings and made more than 100 foreign visits. The result of this work was new human rights initiatives and solutions to humanitarian issues.
“As the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I was elected to the Board of Directors of the European Region of the International Ombudsman Institute in January 2024. And in the fall of the same year, my colleagues elected me a member of the board of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI)”, – the ombudsman’s message states.
According to him, a great victory was the exclusion of the Russian human rights ombudsman from the list of national human rights institutions from October 2024. This decision was made by the Accreditation Subcommittee of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (SCA GANHRI) based on information provided by the Ukrainian office. Now there is no representative of the Russian Federation among the 118 accredited institutions of the world.
Also, in August 2022, the Russian institution was excluded from the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), and in 2023 – from the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), thanks to the joint efforts of the international community.
