Ukraine signed an agreement with Japan to receive $3 billion of Russian assets

The Ukrainian government has approved an agreement with Japan, which provides for the attraction of about 3 billion dollars under the ERA initiative from frozen Russian assets. About this reported Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
These funds are provided at the expense of revenues from the frozen assets of Russia and will be directed to cover priority budget expenditures, reconstruction and development of the country. In total, through this mechanism, Ukraine will receive 50 billion dollars.
“We thank the partners from the G7 and the EU for creating an instrument that forces Russia to pay for the damage caused. We expect that all the immobilized assets of the aggressor will be confiscated and directed to the reconstruction of Ukraine.” – added the Ukrainian Prime Minister.
We will remind that in June 2024, the Minister of Finance of Germany confirmed that the G7 countries reached an agreement on the allocation of 50 billion dollars to Ukraine at the expense of profits from frozen Russian assets. The technical aspects of the agreement were finalized after the G7 summit held on June 13-15 in Italy. According to the representative of the French side, the final agreement may take some time.
