Ukraine to receive $1 billion from World Bank by end of year

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the World Bank, is preparing a new agreement on the “Development Policy Operation” loan, which provides for financing in the amount of 1 billion dollars. It is expected that Ukraine will receive these funds by the end of 2025. informs Ministry of Finance.
A team of experts from the World Bank, together with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Government of Ukraine, are working on the coordination of the key provisions of the future agreement.
“The World Bank is one of the key strategic partners of Ukraine in the promotion of systemic reforms. We continue our joint work on the new Development Policy Operation (DPO) agreement, thanks to which we will be able not only to attract the necessary resources to support the state budget, but also to stimulate the recovery and development of the economy.” – stressed Deputy Minister of Finance Olga Zykova.
She emphasized that during 2024, within the framework of this instrument, the state budget of Ukraine has already received about 3.5 billion dollars. These funds made it possible to finance priority expenses, strengthen financial stability and advance important reforms.
The Ministry of Finance noted that all funds provided for in the new agreement will be directed to the general fund of the state budget after the fulfillment of certain conditions — primarily reforms aimed at long-term economic growth.
Among the planned reforms is the introduction of basic social assistance, which will start operating in a pilot mode from July 1, 2025. Citizens who meet the established criteria will receive this type of support, and the basic payment amount will be 4,500 hryvnias.
“Benefit recipients will independently decide on the transition to receiving basic social assistance”, — explained Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Roman Yermolychev.
