Russia starts forced conscription of residents of the temporarily occupied regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia: GUR
For the first time, Russia carried out the forced conscription of about 300 people in the occupied territories of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. In addition, Ukrainians under the age of 60 are forced to register for the military under the threat of dismissal. About this informs GUR.
“According to intelligence information, the Russian occupation authorities for the first time carried out forced conscription for conscription among residents of the temporarily occupied Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. From October 1 to December 31, 2024, about 300 people were called up for conscription.” – the message says.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russian administration forces Ukrainians under the age of 60 to register for the so-called “military registration”. Those who refuse are threatened with dismissal and further difficulties in finding new employment.
In addition, the Russian Federation is trying to attract local residents to serve in the armed forces of the Russian Federation under a contract. In particular, in the Luhansk region, the occupation authorities are offering 2.5 million rubles for signing such a contract, the Main Directorate of Intelligence reports.
The GUR reminded that international humanitarian law strictly prohibits the mobilization of residents of the occupied territories to the armed forces of the occupying state. Such actions by Russia are a gross violation of human rights and another crime committed by the Kremlin regime.
