Ukrainian icebreaker “Noosphere” arrived at the Antarctic station

The Ukrainian research icebreaker “Noosphere” reached the Polish Antarctic station. About this reported National Antarctic Science Center.

“Our “Noosphere” is already in the Antarctic. The flagship of the Ukrainian scientific fleet has arrived at its first destination – the Polish Antarctic station “Artstovsky”. It is located on King George Island. – the message says.

According to the center, the unloading of the vessel will take several days, depending on weather conditions.

“Most likely, the Noosphere team and the participants of the seasonal Ukrainian expedition will meet the New Year near King George. Therefore, the road to our station “Akademik Vernadskyi” will be waiting for them. – added in the center.

The scientists reminded that this is already the fourth Antarctic season of “Noosphere”, which began in mid-December.

“Like all the previous ones, it is held in cooperation with the Polish Antarctic Program. Also, this season is the most international of all the previous ones. It plans collaborations with the USA and Spain, joint research with the Czech Republic and the implementation of two EU projects “Horizon Europe”, – concluded at the National Antarctic Center.
