Ukrainian rescuers ready to help extinguish fires in California: Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi commissioned to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and the diplomatic team to work out the possibility of sending Ukrainian rescuers to participate in extinguishing large-scale fires in California.

“The situation there is very difficult, and Ukrainians can help Americans protect lives. Now it is being worked out, we have offered our help to the American side through the appropriate channels.”, – noted Zelensky.

According to the president, 150 Ukrainian rescuers are ready to provide the necessary assistance. The Minister of Internal Affairs and diplomats are working on the details of coordination, as reported by the relevant departments.

This initiative by Zelensky came three days after Donald Trump Jr., the son of US President-elect Donald Trump, blamed Ukraine for the wildfires in Los Angeles.

“Oh look, of course the Los Angeles Fire Department donated a lot of their supplies to Ukraine”, he declared.

It will be recalled that the Los Angeles Fire Department already in 2022 provided Ukraine with surplus materials, including shoes, hoses, body armor and medical equipment, after the full-scale invasion of Russia. However, these donations are unlikely to have affected the ability to respond to the current crisis, which is complicated by high winds, staff shortages and water supply problems.
