Ukrainians are warned about a new fraudulent scheme: attackers offer to take a survey

A new fraud scheme has been recorded in Ukraine — criminals spread messages on social networks and messengers that allegedly come from banks and offer to take a short survey via a link. Instead of the promised reward, users who open these links get rid of their own funds, the State Special Communications Service warned.

“Such messages contain a link to a phishing decoy page styled using the bank’s official identity. The victim goes to the site, completes a survey and is then asked to enter a phone number, SMS code and PIN code”, the department noted.

Fraudsters use this information to connect the user’s account to a new device or log into an online banking application, allowing them to withdraw money from the account.

In order not to fall into the trap of criminals, experts advise carefully checking the addresses of sites before entering any personal data – phishing sites often look almost like the real thing, but may contain extra characters or typos. It is also worth trusting only official sources and checking information on the websites of banks or institutions, do not follow suspicious links from messages, but search for the necessary sites yourself through search engines.
