In the two weeks since the launch of the procedure for declaring firearms that Ukrainian citizens found or received under various circumstances, Ukrainians declared 618 firearms and 42,514 ammunition. About this reported in the National Police.
At the same time, 49 weapons and 9,845 ammunition were voluntarily handed over to the police by citizens without going through the declaration procedure. Such a step demonstrates the high level of responsibility of Ukrainians and their desire to ensure public safety.
The National Police notes the activity of citizens in fulfilling legal requirements, stressing that the declaration of weapons is an important element of legal possession of them. The legislative norms in force at this time allow Ukrainians who have declared weapons to use them legally until the end of martial law.
The department reminds that the declaration process is clearly regulated. Citizens who wish to legalize found or received weapons must submit a package of documents, including an application, passport, identification code, residence/registration statement and photo card, to the nearest police station. After that, an appropriate decision will be made regarding their application.
