‘Ukrposhta is testing postal machines and courier delivery: key details

In December, Ukrposhta will launch a new pilot project: parcels will now be available through post offices or couriers. This was announced by Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smelyansky, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to him, testing of the service will start in Kyiv in a month, and next year Ukrposhta plans to expand the service to the whole country.

This is an integrated project in terms of IT system, logistics… couriers will refuel the post offices. And people will have a choice: to receive the parcel at a branch, at a post office or with courier delivery,’ Smelyansky said.

Ukrposhta couriers will have branded yellow backpacks and will be replenishing postal machines.

Indeed, there will be couriers and postmasters. We will turn postmen into couriers because postman means to carry letters. Well, there is nothing left to carry except summonses,’ Smelyansky joked. On his Facebook page, Smelyansky added that Ukrainians will soon have a new mobile app from Ukrposhta.

So if you suddenly start to see Ukrposhta motorbike couriers on the streets, new post offices, changes in our products and a new mobile app, I will be involved in this,’ the Ukrposhta CEO stressed.

In addition, Ukrposhta is updating its packaging standards for parcels in connection with the transition to automated sorting from 1 November. The company has set a transition period for customers until 11 November.

‘Ukrposhta has also decided to maintain current delivery rates at least until the end of 2024.
