Ukrzaliznytsia set a record for the number of transported passengers

At the weekend, a record was set for rail passenger transportation. During the day, 95,000 people used Ukrzaliznytsia trains. This is the largest indicator in 2024, the carrier reports.
“On this day, 46 organized groups of children traveled to places of rest. The most popular destinations since the beginning of the year have traditionally been Kyiv – Lviv, Lviv – Kyiv, Dnipro – Kyiv, and Kharkiv – Kyiv.” – representatives of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” noted.
During the past month, 2.4 million tickets were sold to us Ukrainian trains. 2.2 million passengers were transported on domestic flights. Another 200,000 Ukrainians made international trips by rail.
“The undisputed leader was the Kyiv — Chop route, which grew by 221%. This was the result of the development of the Chop station as a hub between domestic and international trains, in particular, the opening of an alternative travel option to Budapest and Vienna after the launch of trains #367/745 Lutsk/Kyiv — Chop and #143/146 Chop — Vienna in December 2023”, – reported in Ukrzaliznytsia.
Last month, the demand for tickets to Mykolaiv increased by more than 50%. The routes Kyiv — Khmelnytskyi — Kyiv, Kyiv — Khelm — Kyiv and Kyiv — Vinnytsia — Kyiv were also popular.
In May 2024, the trains of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” transported almost 423 thousand more passengers (+22%) than in May 2023.
For the summer period, when citizens travel more often by rail, the number of trains on several routes has been increased. Flights to new destinations have also been launched. In particular, Intercity+ high-speed train No. 741/742 now runs from the capital to Lviv.
