Ultimatum to Putin: Great Britain called to allow Storm Shadow strikes deep into the Russian Federation

London should lift restrictions on the use of Storm Shadow missiles to strike targets on the territory of Russia. This opinion was expressed by the ex-Minister of Defense of Great Britain Grant Shapps in columns for the Sunday Times.

Shapps emphasized that after the latest Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian cities, in particular with the use of guided aerial bombs, Britain should immediately allow Ukraine to use long-range weapons to strike targets deep in the Russian Federation.

“We know that many of the attacks are being launched from within Russia itself. And yet, apart from our permission to strike Crimea with British missiles, we are still wary of allowing our Ukrainian allies to strike at the source of these attacks.”, — believes Shapps.

He noted that the lack of permission to use missiles where they would be most effective weakens trust in Britain as a reliable ally of Ukraine.

“It is time to stop asking President Zelenskyi’s brave population to fight with one hand tied behind their backs. Instead, Britain should issue a direct warning to Putin. If you continue to kill men, women and children with KABs launched from Russia, then we will force the rest of the world to allow with our long-range missiles to destroy your launchers, wherever they are located – even inside Russia”, — Shapps wrote.

He also called on the British government to motivate France, the United States and Germany to take similar actions in order to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons for Ukraine.

“We must allow our Storm Shadow to be used and invite the French, the Americans and even our more reserved German partners to follow us. With a simple ultimatum to Putin: stop your attacks on Ukraine or we will support Ukraine’s response.”, – emphasized Shapps.
