Lorak, Loboda and Povaliy will be left without state awards: the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the presidential draft law, which provides for the deprivation of state awards of persons who popularize Russia, engage in propaganda of the Russian Federation or carry out other illegal actions against Ukraine. About this reported People’s Deputy Pavlo Frolov. Draft law No. 11410 received the support of 283 people’s deputies.

According to the document, the decision to revoke state awards can be made by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in the form of sanctions approved by presidential decree.

The law also supplements the Criminal Procedure Code with a list of crimes for which the court can apply such an additional punishment. These include crimes against the foundations of national security, serious and especially serious crimes, as well as crimes against peace, human security, and international legal order.

In addition, in case of deprivation of the award, the person loses all rights and benefits that were granted together with the award. As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted earlier, the law is aimed at depriving those who justify the war, work for Russia, or help it, from state awards. Among them are Ukrainian songwriters Karolina Kuyek (Ani Lorak), Svitlana Loboda, Taisia Povaliy and their Russian colleagues Mykola Baskov, Philip Kirkorov, Igor Krutyy.

He emphasized that traitors who fled to Russia after February 24, 2022, collaborators who support Russian aggression, as well as criminals working for the aggressor state, do not have the right to keep the decorations awarded to them by the Ukrainian state.
