“Unethical” and “ambiguous”: what Polish politicians say about the return of Ukrainians for mobilization

After the Ukrainian parliament adopted a new law on mobilization, representatives of the ruling circles of the countries that currently host the largest number of refugees began to actively discuss the possibility of repatriating Ukrainians of draft age. In particular, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, called it “ethically ambiguous” possible assistance in the forced return of Ukrainian men.
Despite doubts about the moral aspects, Sikorskyi does not rule out the participation of the Polish authorities in the process of repatriation of Ukrainians of military age. However, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the neighboring country notes that the authorities of Ukraine should take the initiative in this matter. Currently, there are no specific procedures regarding the registration or return of Ukrainian citizens who may be subject to mobilization but are temporarily in Poland.
“Ukraine really needs to take the initiative here, as this is an ethically ambiguous issue for us. Although, of course, we understand that Ukraine needs its defenders to protect the Motherland,” Radoslav Sikorskyi said on Polish television.
We will remind, earlier this week the Minister of Defense of Poland Władysław Kosiniak-Kamys declared his readiness to help Ukraine return citizens aged 18 to 60 to the Motherland, which are subject to mobilization.
After the start of the full-scale war with the Russian Federation, 812,000 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 64 received temporary protection in EU countries.
