US begins canceling visas for Chinese students

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced the beginning of a large-scale visa cancellation process for Chinese students. This primarily applies to those with ties to the Chinese Communist Party or those pursuing education in fields deemed critical. About this it is said on the official website of the US State Department.
Rubio emphasized that the department, in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security, plans to change the approach to issuing visas by strengthening the verification of all future applications from citizens of China and Hong Kong.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, the U.S. State Department will work with the Department of Homeland Security to aggressively revoke the visas of Chinese students, including those with ties to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields. We will also revise visa criteria to strengthen the vetting of all future visa applications from the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.” – says the message.
Such a decision could affect thousands of Chinese students who were planning to enter American universities. Chinese students remain one of the key sources of revenue for US universities.
It will be recalled that on May 27, the administration of Donald Trump issued an order to American diplomatic institutions abroad to temporarily stop recording new interviews for obtaining student and exchange visas.
