US to create additional buffer zones on Mexico border to deter migrants

The US Department of Defense plans to create two additional military buffer zones along the southwestern border with Mexico to deter migrants. About this reported US Air Force.
In these buffer zones, US military personnel will be able to temporarily detain people who have crossed the border illegally until they are handed over to border services.
A portion of the border of more than 400 kilometers in Texas, along the Rio Grande River, in Cameron and Hidalgo counties, will be transferred from the International Boundary and Water Commission and will become part of Joint Base San Antonio. The second zone will be located in the west of Arizona and will be considered the territory of the Marine Corps Air Base in Yuma.
Within the newly created zones, members of the Joint Task Force “Southern Border” will work under the leadership of the US Northern Command.
“Their responsibilities include strengthening detection and monitoring through stationary posts and mobile patrols, temporarily detaining violators until they are handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies, and assisting in the installation of temporary barriers and signs to ensure the security of the area,” – says the statement of the Air Force.
It will be recalled that on June 6, in Los Angeles, there were clashes between residents of an area dominated by the Latin American population and agents of the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The incident took place against the backdrop of immigration raids initiated by the Trump administration.
