Trump called Russia’s strike on Sumy a “mistake”

US President Donald Trump said that Russia “made a mistake” by striking the city of Sumy, which killed at least 34 people. He told reporters on board Air Force One, transmits CNN.
“I think it was terrible. And I was told they made a mistake. But I think it’s a terrible thing.” Trump said.
He did not specify who exactly informed him about the “error”, and did not explain what he meant by these words.
When asked by reporters to specify what his statement about a “mistake” meant, Trump replied:
“They made a mistake. I think it was — look, you ask them,” without saying who exactly he meant by “them.”
At the same time, the reaction of the international community to the shelling was immediate. Leaders, prime ministers and diplomats from more than 15 countries, as well as EU representatives, expressed their condolences and outrage at the missile attack. In particular, Great Britain, Germany and Finland urged Russia to agree to a ceasefire.
On behalf of the United States, Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his “deepest condolences” to those killed and injured as a result of the shelling of Sumy. In his statement, like US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink and Special Envoy Keith Kellogg, he directly indicated that it was Russia that struck. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked for the international condemnation of the missile attack.
