USAID reorganization will be completed by July 2025: State Department

The US State Department announced the reorganization of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which is planned to be completed by July 2025. About this informs press service of the State Department.
On March 28, the US State Department, together with USAID, informed Congress about the intention to carry out a reorganization that involves the transfer of part of the agency’s functions to the State Department by July 1, 2025. The remaining functions that do not meet the priorities of the current administration will be discontinued.
In a statement to the media, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio talked about the implementation of the foreign aid program called “America First”. It emphasized that “properly delivered foreign aid can advance our national interests, protect our borders, and strengthen partnerships with key allies.”
“Unfortunately, USAID has long since retreated from its original mission. As a result, revenues have been too low and expenditures have been excessive.”, Rubio explained.
He added that thanks to President Donald Trump, “this flawed and fiscally irresponsible era is over.”
“We are reorienting our international assistance programs so that they are directly aligned with what is best for the United States and our citizens.”, – emphasized Rubio.
At the same time, he assured that the US will continue the implementation of important humanitarian programs and make “strategic investments that strengthen both partners and the country itself.”
It will be recalled that on the first day of his tenure in office, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending all foreign aid for 90 days. This move, along with subsequent work stoppage orders, jeopardized the implementation of many USAID programs around the world, including humanitarian assistance.
