Vitaliy Klitschko sums up his 10 years as mayor of Kyiv: “I significantly improved the city”

Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, summed up his ten-year work in this position, noting that he managed to significantly improve the state of the city and its infrastructure. In his speeches he singled out several key achievements that resulted from his work.

Development of recreation areas

One of the important directions of Klitschko’s work was the creation of new recreation areas for Kyiv residents. According to him, dozens of parks and squares were opened in the capital during this period. Among them are such popular places as:

• Natalka park on Obolon, which has become one of the most favorite places for recreation among the city’s residents.
• the square in Pechersk, where modern playgrounds and recreation areas were created.
• the reconstructed Hydropark, where new sports grounds and picnic areas were installed.

Infrastructure projects

Klitschko also emphasized the importance of implementing a number of infrastructure projects that significantly improved the lives of Kyiv residents. Including:

• construction of new bridges and transport interchanges, which reduced traffic jams and improved transport accessibility.
• modernization of the public transport system, including the purchase of new trolleybuses, buses and renewal of the tram fleet.
• reconstruction of central streets and squares, such as Khreshchatyk and Maidan Nezalezhnosti, which made them more attractive and functional.

Social initiatives

The mayor of Kyiv also emphasized the implementation of several social initiatives aimed at supporting the least protected segments of the population:

• programs to support veterans of the ATO/OOS, including housing and medical assistance;
• development of sports infrastructure for young people, in particular, the opening of new sports grounds and the holding of sports events;
• support for educational projects, including the renovation of schools and kindergartens, as well as the opening of new educational institutions.

Environmental initiatives

Ecological projects play an important role in the development of the city, including:

• increasing the number of green spaces, which improves the ecological condition of the city and makes it more comfortable to live in;
• initiatives to reduce emissions of harmful substances, including the modernization of urban transport and the introduction of energy-efficient technologies.

Plans for the future

Klitschko noted that he has ambitious plans for the future, including continuing the development of city infrastructure, improving the living conditions of residents and attracting investments to the city. He emphasized the importance of cooperation with the community and readiness for new challenges facing the capital of Ukraine.
