WEF founder leaves office after 55 years of work

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced the start of a search for a new chairman after the organization’s founder Klaus Schwab resigned as chairman of the Board of Trustees after 55 years on the job. About this reported forum press office.

“Following my recent announcement, and as I am turning 88 years old, I have decided to step down as Chairman and Board of Trustees with immediate effect.” – noted Schwab.

During a special meeting on April 20, the Board of Trustees accepted Schwab’s resignation and, in accordance with the organization’s regulations, unanimously appointed Vice President Peter Brabek-Letmat as acting chairman. A special commission was also created to elect a new leader.

The Council expressed its gratitude to Klaus Schwab for his exceptional contribution to the development of the forum and 55 years of continuous leadership during which the WEF has become “a leading global platform for dialogue and progress”.
