White House blames Biden for egg shortage

The egg crisis in the United States arose due to the actions of the administration of President Joe Biden. The largest slaughter of chickens was recorded on the eve of the inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20. About this stated White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.
“Biden Administration Killed Nearly 8 Million Chickens Ahead of President Trump’s Inauguration, Causing Supply Shortages and Rising Prices” Leavitt noted.
She emphasized that the egg crisis is Biden’s responsibility, but Trump, along with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Leslie Rollins, are “fixing the situation.” The press secretary also released a graph of chicken slaughter before and after Trump’s inauguration, which shows a decrease in this indicator.

We will remind that at the beginning of 2025 in the USA there was a shortage of chicken eggs, which led to a significant increase in prices – the cost of a dozen eggs reached 10 dollars. The main cause of the crisis was the bird flu epidemic, which began in 2022 and led to the death of more than 130 million poultry.
Due to the outbreak of the disease, the authorities were forced to destroy millions of laying hens, which caused a significant reduction in egg production. In some states, stores ran out of eggs, and even imposed restrictions on the sale of eggs in one hand. To solve the problem, the Trump administration appealed to European countries to increase egg exports to the United States, but was refused.
