Without money, USAID suspended modernization of 9 border checkpoints

The suspension of funding by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) halted the development of feasibility studies for nine border crossing points. About this reported Serhii Sukhomlyn, head of the Recovery Agency.

“Today, we have nine checkpoints, at which work has actually stopped due to the lack of funding from USAID for technical and economic substantiation of modernization projects. And even the developed part of the material is not transferred to the Agency. I will say frankly, we are not waiting for the funding to be restored, we have no confidence that it will be restored.” Sukhomlin said.

According to him, after the suspension of USAID’s work, the Ukrainian architectural bureau was offered to participate in the development of feasibility studies and projects for these checkpoints, and two large Ukrainian companies have already agreed to participate in the implementation of these tasks.

We will remind you that at the end of January, the US government agency USAID suspended the financing of all programs and projects in Ukraine for 90 days in compliance with the directive of the US State Department regarding the audit of foreign aid.
