The Verkhovna Rada named the key condition for the early abolition of martial law

Martial law in Ukraine can be canceled early by a decision of people’s deputies. However, this is possible only after the end of the war with Russia. About this stated Yehor Chernev, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.
According to him, the parliament’s decision to extend martial law for 90 days does not mean that it cannot be terminated earlier.
“If peace is reached, it will be reviewed. The Verkhovna Rada can meet on any day at any time and vote to end martial law without even waiting for the end of these 90 days.” – emphasized Chernev.
At the same time, he warned against lifting martial law before the end of hostilities, explaining that it would affect the functioning of state bodies, including military-civilian administrations, and could also complicate the financing of the Armed Forces.
“In fact, this may lead to the capitulation of Ukraine, because we will no longer be in a state of war. This will be a signal to both the Russian Federation and our partners, who may stop aid to Ukraine.” – explained the People’s Deputy.
We will remind that on April 16, the Verkhovna Rada decided to extend martial law and mobilization for 90 days. 357 deputies voted for the relevant decision. This is already the fifteenth extension of martial law and mobilization since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
