During the final photo following the results of the first day of the Peace Summit in Switzerland, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau surprised the participants with good Ukrainian. At the photo session, where all the participants of the conference gathered, he shouted: “Glory to Ukraine!”.
The Ukrainian delegation responded with the traditional: “Glory to the heroes!”. And most of the participants of the conference warmly accepted Trudeau’s act.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked all those present for their productive work on the sidelines of the summit.
“Today is the day when the world is getting closer to a just peace. Thank you for participating in the Global Peace Summit! We all need peace. Glory to Ukraine!” – said the head of state.
The international conference, known as the Peace Summit, aims to discuss the terms of ending the war in Ukraine based on the “peace formula” presented in 2022. About 100 countries are participating in the event, including the main partners of Ukraine: USA, Poland, Germany, Great Britain, France and others. Representatives from South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania are also present.
Before the start of the summit, Switzerland announced a decrease in the number of participants due to pressure from China and Russia and changes in the joint communique made by the Swiss side. In particular, in the new document, the attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine is directly called “aggression” and the return to the borders of 1991 is indicated as a mandatory condition for peace.
