Ukraine has begun production of weapons it did not have before, including 155mm artillery shells and long-range drones. About this stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in his evening address on October 1.
The head of state said that the second forum of defense industries was recently held in Kyiv, where representatives of more than 30 countries and about 300 companies, both Ukrainian and leading foreign ones, took part. He emphasized that the growing interest in cooperation with Ukraine in the field of defense both on the part of partner states and global defense companies is extremely important for the country. Some of the agreements have already been implemented, including investments in defense production and localization of production.
Zelenskyi also emphasized that Ukraine has begun to create new opportunities for the use of Western armored vehicles, in particular by focusing efforts on the repair and maintenance of these vehicles. In addition, the country’s missile program is developing.
“Ukraine is already doing things that we did not have before – this is the 155 caliber and our long-range drones, our naval drones. We are creating a new basis for the use of Western armored vehicles – this is both repair and maintenance. Good things are also being done for the development of our of the missile program. And it is very important now to speed up everything.”, – the president noted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and approved for delivery to the Armed Forces a new domestically produced armored personnel carrier “Khorunzhy”.
