Zelenskyi extended the sanctions against Guzhva, Shariy, Pushylin and affiliated mass media

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decree, which implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on the extension of sanctions against individuals and legal entities cooperating with the Russian Federation. This decision was a response to the ongoing threat to national security and the need to strengthen control over pro-Russian activities in Ukraine.
According to the presidential decree, the sanctions are extended for 10 years and concern a number of pro-Russian media figures, including Ihor Guzhva, owner of the Strana.ua online publication, and Anatoly Shariy, a well-known pro-Russian blogger and leader of the political party of the same name. Denys Pushylin, the leader of the terrorist organization “DPR”, along with companies and assets affiliated with these individuals, also remained on the sanctions list.
In addition, the document provides for a number of restrictive measures, in particular, the blocking by Internet providers of access to resources related to sanctioned persons. This includes restricting access to the “Strana.ua” website and its subdomains, the “Shariy.net” sites, as well as the official pages of the Sharia Political Party in social networks. Blocking involves both technical and legal measures aimed at preventing the spread of pro-Russian propaganda in the information space of Ukraine.
Assets of companies owned or controlled by the specified persons are also subject to sanctions. This applies not only to media resources, but also to other business structures that may be involved in financing activities that pose a threat to national security. Blocking of assets and accounts is intended to prevent sanctioned persons from using financial resources for subversive activities.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the decision of the National Security Council is part of the systematic fight against pro-Russian elements in Ukrainian society and aims to protect state sovereignty. He emphasized that Ukraine will not stop there and will continue to use all available tools to fight against the aggressor and his agents.
