Zelenskyy announces BOC meeting on fake disabilities and MSEC

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, convened a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, dedicated to the critical situation surrounding medical and social expert commissions (MSEK) and mass registration of false disabilities. He stated this in his video messages to the public.

Zelenskyi emphasized the need for decisive actions by law enforcement agencies and paid special attention to the role of prosecutors who used their influence to illegally obtain the status of disabled persons. The President emphasized that such actions pose a serious threat to the state and are a manifestation of an internal enemy that harms the country no less than external aggression.

“Unfortunately, in the rear here in Ukraine, things happen with which no enemies are necessary. This is really an internal enemy. What is happening with MSEK – medical and social expert commissions – and the arrogance of people, in particular prosecutors, who used their connections “in languages with MSEK and issued fake disabilities”, – said the head of state.

Corruption schemes in MSEK

The scandal surrounding the medical and social expert commissions gained new momentum after a high-profile revelation in the Khmelnytskyi region. On October 4, law enforcement officers detained the head of the regional MSEK Tetiana Krupa and her son, who heads the regional Pension Fund, on suspicion of large-scale illegal enrichment. Investigators found almost $6 million in cash, part of which the manager tried to hide by throwing money bags out the window during searches.

The next day, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) declared Krupa a suspect and took her into custody. The Pechersk Court of Kyiv decided to keep her in custody with the possibility of bail in the amount of over 500 million hryvnias.

It turned out that the head of MSEK acted in collusion with law enforcement officers of Khmelnytskyi region. According to the publication “Censor.NET”, 49 prosecutors, including the regional prosecutor, took advantage of the corruption scheme and issued false disabilities. Among these prosecutors is regional prosecutor Oleksiy Oliynyk, who voluntarily resigned from his position after the revelations.
