Residents of frontline areas of Zaporizhzhia region urged to prepare for winter without electricity
Residents of the front-line Zaporizhzhia region are urged to prepare for possible power outages in winter. Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhia regional administration, said during the telethon that the authorities are actively working on the purchase of generators and cogeneration plants to provide critical infrastructure.
“I tell everyone that we have to prepare for the fact that there will be no electricity at all. Maybe you don’t like it. Because we operate with such categorical things. But let’s prepare for the worst. It will be better – it will be greatFedorov noted.
He also noted that there may be interruptions in the power supply to the water pumping stations in Zaporizhzhia, and backup with additional generators has already been planned for this.
As part of preparations for winter, cogeneration units are planned to be installed at the largest boiler houses in Zaporizhzhia and the region, including Vilniansk, where centralized heating operates. The first of them should start working already in December this year.
Fedorov explained that the delay in installing cogeneration systems is caused by significant demand throughout Ukraine, as well as limited financial resources. Ukraine has turned to international partners for help, who have already helped with financing. The first cogeneration units should arrive in Zaporizhzhia by November 15, and their connection is planned for the coming month.
In addition, conventional generators are already provided in schools and hospitals of the region, which will allow to maintain a continuous educational process and the provision of medical assistance in the absence of centralized power supply.
